Gardening should be enjoyed, not just done for duty. When we garden, we get to touch the earth, flowers and vegetables grow, and we get to spend time with our family and friends. It is a great way to relax and de-stress.

Maximize natural sunlight to create a productive garden.

To have a productive garden, maximize the amount of natural sunlight that can reach the plants. One way to do this is to position your garden so that it receives as much sun as possible. You can also install awnings or shade cloth to protect plants from the direct rays of the sun.

Complement plants with complementary colors and textures.

When selecting plants for a garden, it is important to consider their complementary colors and textures. Complementary colors are colors that together create a brighter, more vibrant image than if any one color was used alone. For example, blue and green are complementary colors because when they are used together, the resulting hue is more intense than either color would be on its own. Similarly, brown and green provide earthiness and depth to a garden; while yellow and purple are complementary colors because they combine to create a delicate shade of pink. Plants with contrasting textures also add visual interest to a garden. For example, plants with plenty of small leaves on the bottom are good companions for taller plants with larger leaves on top; or plants with spongy stem growth are best complemented by hardy plants that lack sponginess.

Create a paths and steps through your garden for ease of navigation.

Starting from the front porch, Step 1 is to walk down the path to the left. This leads you to a wide open area with a couple of benches and a garden path that continues on the other side of the yard. There are also several fruit trees in this area including a apple tree, pear tree, and cherry tree. Step 2 is to go back towards the house and take a left at the bottom of the stairs. This will take you down another garden path that goes through a small wooded area before coming out into another open area with more benches and gardens on either side. There is also an herb garden here with many different plants including thyme, oregano, and basil. There is also a water fountain nearby with two ceramic cups that can be used for drinking or feeding birds. Step 3 is to go back towards the house again and take a right at the top of the stairs. This will take you back into the living room where you started.
