A garden needs natural sunlight. To get the most out of your garden, you should provide it with plenty of light. An enclosed garden will be deprived of necessary sunlight, so consider creating an outdoor space that allows in at least part of the sun's rays.
A garden should be a place to relax, reflect and enjoy nature - it should not be too large or too small.
My favorite flowers and plants are roses. I love the way they smell, their colors, and their versatility. Roses can be used in a variety of designs, from bouquets to finishes on furniture or even wallpaper. They are also easy to grow and can be placed in just about any garden.
Plants need adequate light and air to grow. Artificial lighting can stunt plants growth, so give them plenty of natural light and air to grow.
Water gardens develop fast in the early stages and will need to be watered sparingly as they will become thirsty.
To help conserve moisture and keep soil cool, mulch garden regularly. Building a layer of organic material (such as leaves, straw, or wood chips) over the ground beneath plants helps to keep moisture in the soil and prevents it from evaporating.
Hardiness is a measure of how well a plant will tolerate cold temperatures. Most plants that are considered Hardy in the North American garden will do well in colder climates, but there are some exceptions. There are many grasses that can survive the cold winters, including Ryegrass, Fescue, and Bluegrass. Wildflowers such as daisy, aster, and goldenrod can also survive cold winters if they are planted in a sheltered corner of the garden or on an elevated spot that relieves wind and snow accumulation.
